They have partnered with Sam and Rose Benedict (Sam is a local business consultant who researches climate change) to form San Diego's premiere and premium Green-Fed™ beef farm, called Sage Mountain Beef.

Sage Mountain Beef raises Guernsey, Angus, and Holstein cattle to maturity in a very special way.

Unlike most cattle, Sage Mountain Beef steers get to graze on certified organic "salad-bar" of watermelon and butternut squash plants, alfalfa, wheat grasses and other forages. This is why we refer to our cows as being "Green-Fed™", instead of grass-fed. The nutritional values of a variety of greens cannot be matched by a single grass or grain food source.

The result is beef that is healthy and nutritious, with flavor and tenderness that can't be beat by most cattle growers.

What is a Beef CSA? Members of a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) program support local farms by buying "shares" of future harvests in this case, Green-Fed™ Beef. By paying for shares up front, CSA members guarantee farmers the capital they need to bring their animals from field to market. In return, members will receive monthly packages containing steaks, roasts, ground, and stew meat at a discounted price that is locked in.

Delivery of your Green-Fed™ Beef shares take place once a month on the first Saturday or Sunday of the month (depending on the Pick-up Location).

Shares include approximately half ground and stew cuts and approximately half higher-end cuts (such as steaks).

Membership in our Green-Fed™ Beef CSA requires either a six (6) or twelve (12) month commitment. There are three different sizes available:

• Minimum Share (approximately 5 pounds of Green-Fed™ Beef per month).
• Half Share (approximately 10 pounds of Green-Fed™ Beef per month).
• Full Share (approximately 20 pounds of Green-Fed™ Beef per month).

New members are also required to pay a one time only Membership Fee of $40 which includes one of our special Logo Coolers.
